Grand Prix Success for Bestobell

President Engineering Group Ltd, parent company of Bestobell Valves, has won two prestigious International Trade Awards at the Insider Yorkshire International Trade Awards, held at the Royal Armouries in Leeds on 5th June.

The judging panel chose PEGL as the winner for the SME Manufacturer’s Award due to its continuous growth in export sales over the past three years, which now make up 88% of its business. The company won the Grand Prix award, for which all winners are entered, as the judging panel identified the strength and overall quality of PEGL’s award entry.

Marie Cooper, Finance Director of President Engineering Group, said: “It was fantastic to win two Insider Yorkshire International Trade Awards. There were some really strong contenders in all categories, and it was a great honour to be chosen for the prestigious Grand Prix Award from such an impressive line up of businesses. We have experienced continuously high growth in export sales over the past three years, particularly for our Bestobell business and it is wonderful to receive this recognition for our achievements.”

Mike Hemming of HSBC presented Marie Cooper and Nicola Livsey of PEGL with the SME Manufacturer’s Award, and Martin McKervey of Nabarro presented the company with the Grand Prix Award.

Richard Abbott, Editor of The Insider, said: “The Insider Yorkshire International Trade Awards are becoming the biggest awards in the industry, and this year we had the largest number of entries to date. The Government has stated that export is the way out of the recession and our awards are aimed to praise those who do this. PEGL is a worthy winner for both of its awards, it is a strong company that is leading the way.”

The awards, which are in their third year, recognise the region’s top exporting companies in eight separate categories. This year’s judges included Eric Hawthorn of Radio Design, Conor Moss of Sheffield Business School, Giles Blackburne of the China Britain Business Council and Philip Kelly of UK Trade & Investment.

PEGL recently won the Made in Sheffield SME of the year award after demonstrating how it had grown through innovation and because of its reputation for craftsmanship and high quality manufacture.
